For well over a century Yonge Street has been the heart of retail and cultural experiences in Toronto. More recently Yonge Dundas Square has become a key venue for live performances, including recent concerts by Serena Ryder, Lady Antebellum and the Tragically Hip for the opening of the 2014 NHL season. Yonge Street attracts tens of millions of visitors annually to participate in world class events such as BuskerFest, the annual Pride Parade and Winter Magic. Retail on the street is also making a revival with national and international retailers opening flagship stores, including Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue.
